Remove/install SAM control unit with fuse and relay box in trunk - AR54.21-P-1258CW

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
NOTES Information on preventing damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge   AH54.00-P-0001-01A
1 Buffer the basic data of the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) in STAR DIAGNOSIS IMPORTANT When replacing the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Transmit buffered basic data.
 
Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory AD00.00-P-2000-04A
2 Switch off ignition and remove transmitter key (A8/1) or KEYLESS-GO start/stop button (S2/3) from electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) KEYLESS-GO start/stop button only with code (889) Keyless-Go  
3.1 Remove cover (1) of the right-hand side paneling (2) Model 204.0/3  
3.2 Remove right inner paneling from side load compartment Model 204.2  
4 Unscrew nut (3) on bracket (5), tilt rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) forward and guide out of the bracket (4) IMPORTANT Press right-hand side paneling (2) at the top to the side (area B) so that the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) can be removed.

    INSTALLATION NOTES Ensure that no electrical lines are pinched otherwise there is the danger that the electrical system will be damaged.  
5 Disconnect all electrical connectors and unclip fuse holder (7) of rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) (arrows C). Then remove rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2). NOTES The terminal 30 conducting electrical connectors (8, 9) must be disconnected first and contacted last in order to avoid short circuits.
IMPORTANT The number of electrical connectors and fuse holders (7) depends on the vehicle equipment.
Release electrical connectors (8, 9) through pushing back tab using an
SPECIAL TOOL extraction hook (arrows D, E) and disconnect.
 
SPECIAL TOOL Pulling hook
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT The contact blade (10) must make contact all the way forward in the connector housing of the electrical connectors (8, 9).

6 Compare equipment of new rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) with old rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) and adapt equipment if necessary IMPORTANT When replacing the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).  
7 Install in the reverse order
