MODEL 204.0/2 up to 28.2.11 with CODE (614) Bi-xenon headlamp unit with CODE (615) Bi-xenon headlamp unit with integrated curve illumination with CODE (616) Bi-xenon headlamp unit with integrated asymmetric curve illumination with CODE (618) Bi-xenon headlamps with CODE (621) Intelligent Light System (left-hand traffic) with CODE (622) Intelligent Light System (right-hand traffic) as of model year 2009 /YoM 08
Shown on model 204.0
Location
There is one xenon light control unit on the underside of the left front lamp unit and one on the underside of the right front lamp unit. The xenon light control units are tightly screwed to the housing of the respective front lamp units. The xenon light control units are connected to the vehicle-side wiring harness via the front lamp units.
Task
The xenon light control units work in a master/slave combination and communicate with each other over the front end CAN (CAN G). As the master the left xenon light control unit synchronizes the right xenon light control unit. The xenon light control units have the following tasks:
- Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Controlling functions
- Actuating components
Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Front end CAN
Direct line
The signals from the following sensors are read in by the left xenon light control unit via a direct line:
- Left rear level sensor (B22/7) (without code (483) ADVANCED AGILITY package)
- Left front level sensor (B22/8) (without code (483) ADVANCED AGILITY package)
Front end CAN
The signals are read in by the xenon light control units via the front end CAN.
The functions resulting therefrom are described in the corresponding function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.
Controlling functions
The following functions are realized by actuating the appropriate components:
- Low beams power control
- Automatic headlamp range adjustment (HRA [LWR])
- Active curve illumination (with code (615) Bi-xenon headlamp unit with integrated curve illumination or code (616) Bi-xenon headlamp unit with integrated asymmetric curve illumination or code (621) Intelligent Light System (left-hand traffic) or code (622) Intelligent Light System (right-hand traffic))
- Active light distribution (with code (621) Intelligent Light System (left-hand traffic) or code (622) Intelligent Light System (right-hand traffic))
Component actuation
Components are actuated with the following line:
- Direct line
Direct line
The left xenon light control unit actuates the following components via a direct line:
- Left xenon bulb with integrated ignition module (E1e10)
- Left headlamp range adjustment actuator motor (E1m1)
- Left active curve illumination actuator motor (E1m2)
The right xenon light control unit actuates the following components via a direct line:
- Right xenon bulb with integrated ignition module (E2e10)
- Right headlamp range adjustment actuator motor (E2m1)
- Right active curve illumination actuator motor (E2m2)
