Headlamps And Exterior Lights - Function Check - AP82.10-D-8251H

INSPECT Check     
1 Switch on left and right parking lights IMPORTANT Check left and right parking lamp.
If defective: ↓
Subject to a separate repair order, determine the cause and rectify the fault.
 
2 Switch on ignition and then switch on standing lights IMPORTANT Check standing lamp, taillamps, license plate lamps and instrument illumination for proper operation.
If defective: ↓
Subject to a separate repair order, determine the cause and rectify the fault.
 
3 Switch on low beams and front fog lamps and rear fog lamp IMPORTANT Combination switch (2) in center position (A). Check low beam, front fog lamp, rear fog lamp as well as front fog lamp indicator lamp and rear fog lamp in the light switch for proper operation.
If defective: ↓
Subject to a separate repair order, determine the cause and rectify the fault.
 
4 Turn headlamp range adjustment switch (4) Only on vehicles without code (LG1) Bi-xenon headlamp with corner-illuminating fog lamps.  
IMPORTANT Check the headlamp setting.
If defective: ↓
Subject to a separate repair order, determine the cause and rectify the fault.
 
5 Switch on high beams (B) IMPORTANT Check the high beams (B) as well as the indicator lamp for the high beams in the instrument cluster.
If defective: ↓
Subject to a separate repair order, determine the cause and rectify the fault.
 
6 Switch off lighting    
7 Using combination switch (2), switch on left turn signal light turn signal light (D) Check the left turn signal light (E) and right turn signal light (E) and right (D).
If defective: ↓
Subject to a separate repair order, determine the cause and rectify the fault.
 
8 Operate headlamp flasher (C) with combination switch (2) IMPORTANT Check headlamp flasher (C).
If defective: ↓
Subject to a separate repair order, determine the cause and rectify the fault.
 
9 Check backup lamp IMPORTANT To do so, engage the reverse gear and then shift the transmission back to the neutral position.
If defective: ↓
Subject to a separate repair order, determine the cause and rectify the fault.
 
10 Check brake lights IMPORTANT To do so, activate brake pedal.
If defective: ↓
Subject to a separate repair order, determine the cause and rectify the fault.
 
11 Apply parking brake    
DANGER Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
12 Start engine IMPORTANT Transmission idling!  
13 Check daytime running lamps IMPORTANT The daytime running lamps must be switched on when the engine is running. If defective: ↓
Subject to a separate repair order, determine the cause and rectify the fault.
 
14 Turn off engine    
15 Switch off ignition    
16 Switch on hazard warning system IMPORTANT Check warning flasher system for proper function Check indicator lamp in switch for proper function.
If defective: ↓
Subject to a separate repair order, determine the cause and rectify the fault.
