Processing Of Body Sealant (PAINTABLE) Before Painting - Ar97.10-D-0500-02H
When replacing sheet attached parts (doors, hinged rear doors, etc.) and also body parts welded in place, carefully seal the folds and openings with body sealant in order to avoid corrosion and leaks. Seal spot weld seams and rivets on both sides.
Observe following procedure:
- Carefully clean affected body parts.
- Apply sealant uniformly.
- Spread body sealant evenly.
Brushes, wooden spatulas, etc. used for spreading body sealant, should be cleaned only with naphtha (not paint thinner or other fluids containing alcohol). Otherwise the sealant cannot cure and remains sticky.
Observe curing time for paintable body sealant.
