Potential risks 

Risk of injury 

If operations such as, e.g. an oil change or oil level check are conducted on a hot transmission, severe burn injuries may occur if the hot transmission is touched. When handling hot transmission oil, severe scalding may occur.

Contact of unprotected skin with transmission oil can cause skin damage.

Health hazard 

Swallowing of transmission oil can result in health impairments such as headaches, dizziness, stomach aches, vomiting, diarrhea, cramps and unconsciousness.

Safety precautions/instructions 

• Do not pour transmission oil into beverage bottles.
• Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
• Immediately seal off any disconnected lines and hoses and connections to the major assemblies using stop plugs.
• Change clothing wetted by transmission oil as quickly as possible.
• Avoid any skin contact with transmission oil. Clean wetted skin carefully using water and soap.

First-aid measures 

• In the event of burns or scalding, rinse affected skin with copious amounts of cold water and cover with sterile dressings.
• In the event of any burn or scalding injuries caused by transmission oil consult a physician.
• If transmission oil gets into the eyes, rinse eyes immediately with copious amounts of clean water/eye wash bottle and consult an eye doctor.
• Do not force any vomiting in the event of swallowing. Consult physician without delay.
