Remove/install front axle brake caliper - AR42.10-P-0070WA

MODEL 172 (except 172.466/475) With split brake caliper support

	Remove
1	Remove brake linings (2)		AR42.10-P-1600WA
2	Unscrew bolt (6) and remove right front brake wear sensor electrical connector (S10/2x1) from brake caliper (1)	When removing brake caliper (1) on right side of vehicle.
		Bolt, brake wear sensor to brake caliper	*BA42.10-P-1002-10J
3	Detach brake hose (7)		AR42.10-P-0013V
		Seal the connections immediately using suitable stop plugs. This prevents damage from escaping brake fluid.
		Record plug	Figure
4	Unscrew screws/bolts (9) and remove brake caliper support (8)	When replacing brake caliper support (8).
		Bolt, brake caliper to steering knuckle	*BA42.10-P-1001-10J
	Check
5	Check condition of brake linings (2)
			AP42.10-P-4253A
		If necessary ↓ Replace brake pads (2)
			AR42.10-P-1600WA
6	Check condition of brake disk (10) and measure degree of wear
			AP42.10-P-4258V
		If necessary ↓ Replace brake disks (10)
			AR42.10-P-0220W
7	Check brake caliper (1) and dust boot (3) on brake piston for damage and replace if necessary
8	Check seal boots (4) for damage and correct seating as well as pilot bushings (5) for ease of movement and replace if necessary		AR42.10-P-0225-01CV
		Assembly cleaner	*BR00.45-Z-1028-04A
	Install
9	Press back brake piston using pusher tool (01)	Resetting device If brake piston is sluggish ↓ Replace brake caliper (1)	Figure
	Clean
10	Clean contact surfaces of brake linings (2) on brake caliper (1) and on brake caliper support (8)	When doing so, do not damage the dust boot (3) on the brake piston. Do not use sharp-edged or pointed objects. Otherwise the brake caliper (1) will be damaged. Any adhesive residue on the contact surfaces of the brake linings (2) and on the brake caliper (1) must be removed completely.

11	Install in the reverse order
	Risk of accident  when commissioning the vehicle due to a lack of braking effect when the service brake is operated for the first time after repair work.	Before starting the engine, actuate brake pedal several times until pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system.	AS42.50-Z-0002-01A
12	Depress brake pedal several times until brake linings (2) rest against brake disks (10)	Firm resistance should be noticeable at the brake pedal.
13	Check fluid level in brake fluid reservoir, and correct if necessary

14	Carry out brake test on the test stand
			AP42.00-P-4290BA
