Remove/install SAM control unit with fuse and relay box in trunk - AR54.21-P-1258W

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

NOTES Information on preventing damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge   AH54.00-P-0001-01A
1 Connect Star Diagnosis and perform initial startup of rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) When replacing the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2). AD00.00-P-2000-04A
2 Switch off ignition and remove transmitter key or KEYLESS-GO start/stop button from electronic ignition lock control unit IMPORTANT KEYLESS-GO start/stop button only on vehicles with code (889) Keyless-Go.  
3 Remove center paneling (1)   AR68.30-P-4600W
4 Unscrew bolt (6) from bracket (5)    
5 Swivel rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) to rear and remove with shackle (8) from bracket (5) NOTES Removal: Make sure that no electrical lines are trapped by or rub against the carrier plate. There is otherwise a risk of damage to the electrical lines.
INSTALLATION NOTES Make sure that no electrical lines are jammed. Otherwise the electrical system may be damaged.
 
6 Detach all electrical connections from rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) and unclip fuse holder (7) from rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) NOTES The permanent current of the electrical connections (2, 3) carrying current must be detached first and contacted last. Otherwise short circuits may occur.
IMPORTANT The number of electrical connectors and fuse holders (7) depends on the vehicle equipment.
Unlock electrical connectors (2, 3) by pressing back the shackles using an
SPECIAL TOOL extraction hook (arrows A, B) and detach.
 
SPECIAL TOOL Pulling hook
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT The contact blade (4) must make contact all the way forward in the connector housing of the electrical connectors (2, 3).

7 Compare the components of the new rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) with those of the old rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2), if necessary adapt components to the respective vehicle equipment accordingly When replacing the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).  
8 Install in the reverse order
