Task 

The electronic selector lever module control unit (N15/5) receives digital and analog input signals, converts these and actuates various components or transmits information to various control units via the Controller Area Network bus class C (engine compartment) (CAN-C).

The selector lever positions and touch shifts performed are recognized without contact using the opto-electronic switches. A photoelectric barrier is closed or interrupted each time the position of the selector lever is changed.

Internal input signals: 

• Selector lever position
• Transmission mode switch (S16/5)
• Touch button +/-
• Voltage supply

Internal output signals: 

• R/P locking solenoid
• Gate illumination (circuit 58d)

Instrument cluster (A1) 

• Circuit 58 dimmed

ESP, SPS [PML] and BAS control unit (N47-5) 

• Wheel speed and direction, right rear
• Wheel speed and direction, left rear
• Set braking torque

EIS control unit (N73) 

• Circuit 50
• Terminal 15
• Stop lamp switch (S9/1)
• Stop lamp feedback
• Initialization, personalization, authenticity for stage 3 drive authorization system (DAS 3)

Central gateway control unit (N93) 

• Diagnosis request

The following information is transmitted via CAN-C:

• Selector lever position for gear display (A1p12)

ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) 

• Selector lever position "P", "N"

EIS control unit (N73) 

• Selector lever position for actuation of backup lamp

• Diagnosis request
