Active Service System (ASSYST), Mercedes-Benz Driver Information Service - GF00.20-P-0003-02R

This document gives an overview on the possible ASSYST driver information that can appear on the left-hand (A1p13) and right-hand (A1p15) sides of the multifunction display in the instrument cluster. Unless otherwise specified, the display is in white font.

First, the driver information

For most "remaining time" or "remaining distance" displays, the service scope (A or B; one or two service symbols) is shown. The display language can be selected using the "Settings" function of the instrument cluster (A1).

IMPORTANT

The messages on the left-hand (A1p13) and right-hand (A1p15) sides of the multifunction display are priority subdivided into 3 categories. Messages from categories two and three can be acknowledged by the driver using the reset button. Category one messages (highest priority) cannot be acknowledged. More information on this can be found in the function description of the instrument cluster. 

Remaining distance (Service A) 

This display is shown when the service display is manually loaded or when the warning threshold has been reached.

IMPORTANT This display is not shown when the time maintenance function is activated, which can occur for vehicles with low annual mileage.

Remaining distance (Service B) 

This display is shown when the service display is manually loaded, or the warning threshold has been reached.

IMPORTANT This display is not shown when the time maintenance function is activated, which can occur for vehicles with low annual mileage.

Remaining time (Service A) 

This display is shown for vehicles with low annual mileage when the service display is manually loaded, or when the warning threshold has been reached.

IMPORTANT In most cases, the remaining distance is shown.

Service interval expired (i.e. remaining distance or remaining time) 

This display is shown as soon as the service interval has expired. The remaining distance or remaining time is now 0 km or 0 days, respectively. These values, however, are not displayed.

IMPORTANT If the service interval is exceeded by more then 100 km or 1 day, this display is replaced by the following displays.

Service interval (distance) exceeded (remaining distance exceeded)

This display is shown as soon as the service interval (remaining distance) has been exceeded by more than 100 km.

IMPORTANT This display is not shown when the time maintenance function (remaining time) is activated. This can be the case for vehicles with low annual mileage.

Service interval (time) has been exceeded (remaining time exceeded) 

This display is shown as soon as the service interval (remaining time) has been exceeded by more than one day.

IMPORTANT This display is only shown when the time maintenance (remaining time) function has been activated. This can be the case for vehicles with low annual mileage.

Driver information on engine oil 

There are two different types of driver information engine oil messages: warning messages (e.g. underfilled), and oil level reading messages initiated by the driver.

Engine oil warning messages: 

Too little oil can cause engine damage 

This message is shown in red typeface  when the oil level has dropped to a level that can cause damage to the engine.

This is a category 1 message (highest priority).

Minimum engine oil level reached

This message is shown when the oil level has reached the minimum fill level. This is a category 2 message (medium priority).

Too much oil in engine 

This message is shown when there is too much oil in the engine. This is a category 2 message (medium priority).

Engine oil level or condition of oil has dropped to a critical level 

This message is shown when

This is a category 2 message (medium priority).

Oil measuring system defective 

This message is shown when there is a fault in the oil measuring system (e.g. oil sensor is defective (oil level, temperature and quality, B40).

This is a category 2 message (medium priority).

Oil level measurement messages initiated by driver 

Note "Please turn ignition ON" 

This message is displayed when calling up the oil level when the ignition is not yet turned on.

Message: "Not when engine is running" 

This message is displayed when calling up the oil level when the engine is running, as an oil level measurement is not possible in this operating condition.

Message "Measurement is correct only when vehicle is on level ground" 

This message is always  displayed when calling up the oil level. The oil level can only be correctly calculated when the vehicle is on a level surface. This display reminds the driver as such.

Message: "Uphold waiting time" 

This display is shown when the oil level is called up when the waiting time after turning on the engine has not been upheld. Waiting time can take up to 30 minutes when the engine is cold.

Amount of oil lacking 

This message is displayed when calling up the oil level after the measurement has been performed and oil must be added.

The following quantities can be displayed:

1.0, 1.5, 2.0 liters or quarts.

Oil quantity OK 

This message is displayed when calling up the oil level after the measurement has been performed and the oil level is OK.
