	Remove/install
	Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.	Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.
	Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts
	While working on the rear axle care must be taken to ensure that the surface of all aluminum components do not get any scratches, cracks and notches. Otherwise the service life of the parts will be affected
1	Raise vehicle with vehicle lift
2	Remove rear wheel
	Remove/install wheels
3	Remove exhaust system from flange connection back	Engine 275 Engine 113, 137 see: ↓ Remove complete exhaust system:	AR49.10-P-7280M

4.1	Detach rear axle shafts (3) from rear axle differential (1)	Vehicles with screwed rear axle shafts Bring rear axle shaft (3) into approximately horizontal position and push together. Remove rear axle shaft (3) diagonally downwards from connecting flange on rear axle differential (1) and secure to prevent it from falling. Lightly oil bolts at thread and bolt head contact surface.

4.2	Remove rear axle shafts (3)	Vehicles with plug-in rear axle shafts
5	Mark propeller shaft (2)	Apply color marking indicating position of propeller shaft relative to rear axle differential (1) to ensure that components are fitted at correct ex factory installation positions on reinstallation, otherwise vibration may occur along the drive train.
6	Detach propeller shaft (2) from rear axle differential (1)	The flexible coupling remains on the propeller shaft (2). Tie the propeller shaft (2) to one side and secure to prevent it from falling.	AR41.10-P-0050-04I
7	Detach fitting sleeves of flexible coupling on flange of rear axle differential (1)	If the fitted sleeves are jammed: ↓	AR41.10-P-0050-09I

9	Detach extension bracket (5) from rear axle carrier (4) by removing bolts (6)	The rear axle differential (1) can only be removed/installed when the extension bracket (5) is mounted.

11	Lower and remove rear axle differential (1)
12.1	Detach extension bracket (5) from rear axle differential (1)	If necessary

14	Install in the reverse order
15	Check oil level in rear axle differential (1) and correct if necessary	Mixing of old universal hypoid gear oil and the new FE hypoid gear oil should be avoided due to the better fuel economy.	AR35.31-P-0520-03I
