IMPORTANT Notes on fiber optical cable Model 220 with CODE (819) CD changer (6-disc).  
IMPORTANT Notes on D2B ring    
REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove front seats IMPORTANT Due to the danger of damaging the airbag system  inside the seat and the removal of the center console, before disconnecting the electrical connector on the seat, the gear change selector must be in the N position,  the ignition key at the 0 position  and then the ground line is to be disconnected from the battery.   
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR      
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   Disconnect ground lead from battery  
2 Remove the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3)    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   With code (352a) comand operating and display system.  
3 Remove floor covering in rear IMPORTANT Do not remove rear AC housing.  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR      
4.1 Remove rear seat backrest    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   Except  code (223b) Rear bench seat electrically adjustable.
Except  code (224c) Electrically adjustable individual rear seats, with seat ventilation, seat heater and memory package.
 
4.2 Remove rear seat backrest IMPORTANT Only on left side.  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   With  code (223b) Rear bench seat electrically adjustable.  
4.3 Remove rear seat backrest IMPORTANT Only on left side.  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   With  code (224c) Electrically adjustable individual rear seats, with seat ventilation, seat heater and memory package.  
5.1 Remove seat adjustment device on rear seat IMPORTANT Only on left side.  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   Models 220.0/1 with  code (223b) Rear bench seat electrically adjustable.
Models 220.0/1 with  code (224c) Electrically adjustable individual rear seats, with seat ventilation, seat heater and memory package.
 
6.1 Remove screws (41) (4 pieces) left and right of the reinforcement strut (42) and then remove the strut (42) IMPORTANTwithout  code (582) Air conditioning in rear.  
7.1 Remove ventilation duct, rear middle (43) backwards from the ventilation ducts, middle front (46) IMPORTANTWithout  code (582) Air conditioning in rear.  
8.1 Remove ventilation ducts, middle front (46) left and right, backwards from the blower box IMPORTANTwithout  code (582) Air conditioning in rear.  
9.1 Remove ventilation duct, rear (44) (left) backwards from the ventilation duct, front left IMPORTANTWithout  code (582) Air conditioning in rear.  
9.2. Loosen ventilation duct, rear (44) left and right on rear air conditioning box (40). Remove ventilation duct, rear (44) (left) backwards from the ventilation duct, front left IMPORTANTWith  code (582) Air conditioning in rear.  
10.1 Remove screws (41) (4 pieces) left and right of rear air conditioning box (40) IMPORTANTWith  code (582) Air conditioning in rear.  
11.1 Lift rear air conditioning box (40) about 20 mm and put a plastic wedge beneath IMPORTANTWith  code (582) Air conditioning in rear.
NOTESCaution!  Refrigerant lines and coolant lines should not be damaged when lifting.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Ensure correct seating of the foam rubber seals (61) on the rear air conditioning box (40).
 
12 Remove plastic nut (51) and detach cover (50) from vehicle floor    
13 Detach Bowden cable, park pawl (47) from cable duct cover, middle front (48) NOTES Do not displace nor damage Bowden cable, park pawl (47).  
14 Detach and remove cable duct cover, middle front (48)    
15 Open cable duct, middle left (45) and cable duct, left rear (49)    
16 Remove coverings in trunk IMPORTANT If a left side wall paneling without access flap for the CD changer has been installed, this must be replaced with one with an access flap.  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR      
INSTALLING Install     
17 Retrofit fiber optical cable wiring harness   AN82.70-P-0002-01MAB
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR Cover fiber optical cable NOTESDo not buckle or extend D2B fiber optical cable. 
IMPORTANT Install cover caps on optical waveguide connector and equipment connection.

18 Retrofit CD changer in trunk   AN82.64-P-0001-04MA
19 Fit remaining parts to vehicle IMPORTANT Steps 16 up to 1.  
20 Perform startup with STAR DIAGNOSIS. IMPORTANT Perform nominal/actual configuration  
21 Perform function check IMPORTANT See owner's manual.  
22 Add special equipment to the vehicle data card and to the online vehicle data card CD changer, 6-disc (code 819)
