Remove/install DC/DC converter - AR54.10-P-1350SXH

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of death  when touching components on vehicles with high-voltage on-board electrical system Do not touch components and open lines of the high-voltage on-board electrical system. Persons who wear electronic implants (e.g. cardiac pacemakers), must not carry out any work on high-voltage on-board electrical systems. AS54.00-Z-0001-01A

1 Open engine hood    
2 Perform disable for the high-voltage on-board electrical system   AR54.10-P-1150SXH 
IMPORTANT After completing the work, enclose the initial startup event log together with the power disable event log in the vehicle file.  
3 Switch off ignition    
4 Disconnect battery ground cable   AR54.10-P-0003SX
NOTES Notes on battery   AH54.10-P-0001-01A
5 Release pressure in cooling system IMPORTANT Carefully open cap on expansion reservoir and then close again.  
6 Lift vehicle on vehicle lift   AR00.60-P-1000SX
7 Detach right front wheel    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP40.10-P-4050SX
8 Remove rear section of right fender liner in right fender    
9 Clamp off coolant feed line (1) and coolant return line (2) on DC/DC converter control unit (N83/1) using a suitable tool    
10 Detach protective cap (3), detach circuit 30 positive line (4) from DC/DC converter control unit (N83/1) and cover with protective covers    
REFER TO CAPACITIES & SPECIFICATIONS Wax preservation agents for underbody   BB00.40-P-0385-01A
    INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Clean the connecting points. Do not use any sharp-edged tools or abrasive paper. Only clean connecting points with safety cleaner.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT The protective cap (3) of the circuit 30 positive line (4) must be replaced each time it is removed. Fill protective cap (3) with wax prior to assembly. After assembly, make sure that the complete cable lug of the circuit 30 positive line (4) is covered with wax.
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, 12 volt connection to DC/DC converter *BA54.10-P-1035-01C

11 Detach coolant feed line (1) and coolant return line (2) from DC/DC converter control unit (N83/1) IMPORTANT Collect flowing out coolant in a suitable vessel.  
12 Unscrew bolt (5) and remove ground strap (6) from DC/DC converter control unit (N83/1) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Clean the connecting points. Do not use any sharp-edged tools or abrasive paper otherwise the protective alloy will be damaged. Only clean connecting points with safety cleaner.  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, ground strap/line to DC/DC converter *BA54.10-P-1033-01C 
13 Detach signal contact connector (7) from DC/DC converter control unit (N83/1) IMPORTANT Seal the line connections using new, clean protective covers.

14 Detach disconnect connector (8) from DC/DC converter control unit (N83/1) IMPORTANT Seal the line connections using new, clean protective covers.

15 Unscrew nuts (9) from bracket and remove DC/DC converter control unit (N83/1) NOTES
The DC/DC converter control unit (N83/1) must not be subjected to any severe impacts.
The DC/DC converter control unit (N83/1) can otherwise be damaged.
 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt/nut, DC/DC converter to bracket *BA54.10-P-1032-01C 
16 Replace ground strap (6) When replacing the DC/DC converter control unit (N83/1).  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, ground strap/line to longitudinal member *BA54.10-P-1034-01C 
17 Install in the reverse order    
18 Pour in coolant and bleed cooling system and turn transmitter key in EZS control unit to position 1 for approx. 5 s and then turn key back to position 0 IMPORTANT Repeat the procedure twice after a waiting time of about 30 s in order to fill and bleed the low-temperature water circuit.  
19 Correct coolant level in the expansion reservoir and check cooling system for leak tightness   AR20.00-P-1010SX
20 Perform initial startup of DC/DC converter control unit (N83/1) using Star Diagnosis
