Retrofit navigation system - AN82.85-P-0002M

REMOVING Remove     
DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by escaping oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of injury  caused by caustic burns to eyes, skin and mucous membranes from battery electrolyte (contains diluted sulfuric acid) or metal spatter due to short circuit. Risk of burn injuries  caused by short circuit. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing battery electrolyte (contains diluted sulfuric acid) or absorption of lead over the skin or orifices No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves and clothing and safety glasses with side guards.
Do not place any conductive objects on the battery and avoid any short circuit from battery positive to ground.
Only fill liquid battery electrolyte (diluted sulfuric acid) into suitable and appropriately marked containers.
 
1 Disconnect battery ground line IMPORTANT Do not connect quiescent current retention device.

IMPORTANT Notes on AGM battery Model 220.028 with CODE (450) Taxi version. Models 220.070/075/175 as of 1.1.01  
2.1 Remove operating lever for mechanically pivotable trailer hitch IMPORTANT Vehicles with code (550) trailer hitch.  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR      
3 Remove coverings in trunk IMPORTANT Left side paneling.
IMPORTANT If a side wall paneling without access flap for the navigation processor has been installed, this must be replaced with a new one having an access flap.
 
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR      
4 Remove audio gateway control unit IMPORTANT Do not disconnect electrical lines and do not remove control units from the brackets.

INSTALLING Install     
5 Extend fiber optical cable ring for components to be retrofitted NOTESRisk of breakage!  Do not kink optical waveguide, route over sharp edges or bend in radii smaller than 25 mm. Tensile forces on inserts must not exceed 65 N. Do not squeeze fiber optical cable and do not compress with clamps or tie straps. AN82.64-P-0001-05MA
6 Install audio gateway control unit    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR      
7 Retrofitting navigation processor in trunk   AN82.85-P-0001-01MA
8 Fit remaining parts to vehicle IMPORTANT Steps 3 up to 1  
9 Perform startup with STAR DIAGNOSIS. IMPORTANT Perform specified/actual configuration and enable navigation special equipment in the instrument cluster.  
10 Perform function check IMPORTANT See owner's manual.  
11 Add special equipment to the vehicle data card and to the online vehicle data card IMPORTANT COMAND APS USA (with navigation) code 527a
