REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove COMAND controller unit (A40/3)    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   except code 529 (HIGH Class Japan)  
2 Remove door sill molding on front left and rear left    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR      
3.1 Remove left rear seat backrest Model 221.0 with code 223 (Rear bench seat with electrically adjustable outer seats with PRE-SAFE positioning function for outer seats and outer head restraints), model 221.1 with code 223 (Rear bench seat with electrically adjustable outer seats with PRE-SAFE positioning function for outer seats and outer head restraints), with code 224 (Design individual rear seat system)  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR      
3.2 Remove rear seat backrest Model 221.0 except code 223 (Rear bench seat with electrically adjustable outer seats with PRE-SAFE positioning function for outer seats and outer head restraints), model 221.1 except code 223 (Rear bench seat with electrically adjustable outer seats with PRE-SAFE positioning function for outer seats and outer head restraints), except code 224 (Design individual rear seat system)  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR      
4 Remove side paneling in rear at the backrest    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR      
5 Remove paneling on left in trunk    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR      
6 Detach rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) and place to one side with electrical lines connected    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR      
7 Detach overpressure reservoir and place to one side with electrical and pneumatic lines still connected    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   with code 409 (Left/right front multicontour seats), with code 432 (Left and right dynamic multicontour seat)  
8 Remove housing for 12 V socket or rear ashtray    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR      
9 Detach center console    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   except code 582 (Rear air conditioning) AR68.20-P-2000-02SX
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   with code 582 (Rear air conditioning) AR68.20-P-2000-02SXA
INSTALLING Install     
10 Install E-net compensator (A28/3)   AN82.70-P-0008-04SX
11 Retrofit comfort telephony wiring harness (1)   AN82.70-P-0008-01SX
12 Install Bluetooth module (A34/7) except code 582 (Rear air conditioning) AN82.70-P-0008-05SX
with code 582 (Rear air conditioning) AN82.70-P-0008-05SXA
13 Assemble vehicle IMPORTANT Operation steps 8 to 1.  
14 Add special equipment via the vehicle documentation (VeDoc) to the online vehicle data card IMPORTANTAdd: 
  • CODE 386 (Comfort telephony)
 
15 Document retrofitted equipment in VeDoc IMPORTANT Attach the note "Comfort telephony retrofitted as per AN82.70-P-0008SX " under field organization texts to design group 82.  
16 Connect Star Diagnosis and select vehicle via the vehicle identification number (VIN)    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04A
17 Perform variant coding with XENTRY using the software calibration number (SCN) IMPORTANT Variant coding with XENTRY is carried out for the following control units or components using SCN:
  • "Instrument cluster"
  • "COMAND controller unit (A40/3)"
 
18 Disconnect Star Diagnosis    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04A
INSPECT Check     
19 Perform function test of comfort telephony
