Location 

The left front door control unit is located on the door module behind the door lining.

Task 

The left front door control unit has the following tasks:

• Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals 
• Evaluation of input factors 
• Controlling functions 
• Actuation of components 

Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals 

The input factors are read in via the following connections:

• Direct line 
• Left door LIN (LIN B5) 
• Interior CAN (CAN B) 

Direct line 

The signals from the following components are read via a direct line:

• Infrared remote control receiver, driver-side front door (A26/1)
• Left front door rotary tumbler switch (A85s1)
• Hall sensor for left front door power window motor (M10/3)
• In addition with code (275) Memory function (driver seat, steering column, outside mirrors):
  • Vertical inclination adjustment potentiometer (M21/1r2)
  • Horizontal inclination adjustment potentiometer (M21/1r3)
• Trunk lid unlock button (S15/1) (on model 204.0/3)
• Driver trunk lid/liftgate control button (S15/3) (model 204.2/9 with code (890) EASY-PACK liftgate)
• Left front door central locking inside door handle switch (S85/5) with following components:
  • Open central locking switch (S85/5s1)
  • Close central locking switch (S85/5s2)

Left door LIN 

The signals for the following components are read in via the left door LIN:

• Driver-side power window and outside mirror adjustment switch group (S20):
  • Left front power window switch (S20s1)
  • Right front power window switch (S20s2)
  • Left rear power window switch (S20s3) (on model 204.0/2/9)
  • Right rear power window switch (S20s4) (on model 204.0/2/9)
  • Rear side window child safety lock switch (S20s5) (on model 204.0/2/9)
  • Electric outside mirror fold-in/out motor (S20s9) (with code (249) Automatic dimming outside and inside mirror including folding outside mirror)
  • Left outside mirror adjustment switch (S20s10)
  • Right outside mirror adjustment switch (S20s11)
  • Outside mirror adjustment switch (S20s12)
• Left front seat adjustment switch group (S22) (with code (275) Memory function (driver seat, steering column, outside mirror)):
  • Left front head restraint adjustment switch (S22s1)
  • Left front seat inclination adjustment switch (S22s2)
  • Left front seat fore/aft adjustment switch (S22s3)
  • Left front seat height adjustment switch (S22s4)
  • Left front seat backrest adjustment switch (S22s5)
  • Left front memory function switch (S22s6)

Interior CAN 

The signals are read in by the left front door control unit via the interior CAN.

The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

Evaluation of input factors 

The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.

Controlling functions 

The left front door control unit controls the following functions:

• Manual and automatic opening and closing of side windows
• Automatic closing of side windows with PRE-SAFE (with code (299) PRE-SAFE)
• Convenience feature for power windows
• Excess force limiter for manual and automatic closing of side windows
• Automatic opening of rear side windows after airbag deployment
• Adjusting outside mirror

Actuation of components 

Components are actuated via the following lines:

• Direct line 
• Left door LIN

• Left front door central locking motor (A85m1)

Left door LIN 

The left front door control unit supplies the connected control elements with circuit 58 d (symbol illumination) via left door LIN:

• Trunk release button or Driver trunk lid/liftgate control button
• Left front door central locking interior switch
• Driver-side power window and outside mirror adjustment switch group
• Left front seat adjustment switch group
