Remove/install parking brake pedal assembly - AR42.20-P-0510GZ

REMOVING Removing     
1 Remove footwell trim (1)   AR68.30-P-4010GZ
SPECIAL TOOL Mounting wedge Fig 4
2 Undo bolts (5) and bolt (7) and fold cover under dashboard (6) with air duct (9) downwards    
3 Release plug (11) and detach from data link connector (X11/4) and then unplug electrical connector (10)    
4 Thread hood release (8) out of covering under the dashboard (6) and remove covering under the dashboard (6) together with the air duct (9)    
5 Pull out release (2) and remove both bolts concealed behind it    
6 Pull out internal component of release (4) together with release cable (3), until the cable's ball head is accessible IMPORTANT Make sure that the parking brake has been released.  
7 Unhook ball head on internal component of release (4), remove release (2) and internal component of release (4) IMPORTANT Make sure that the parking brake has been released.  
8 Detach plug (13) on parking brake indicator switch (S12) and unclip securing clip (18) using suitable tool IMPORTANT Make sure that the parking brake has been released.  
9 Release notch (16) using suitable tool and thread notched rail (17) towards rear and out of the parking brake pedal assembly (12) IMPORTANT Make sure that the parking brake has been released.  
10 Undo bolt (14, 15) and remove parking brake pedal assembly (12) with release cable (3)

11 Unhook release cable (3) on parking brake pedal assembly (12), unclip plastic clip and remove release cable (3) SPECIAL TOOL Snap-release tool Fig 5
INSTALLING Install     
12 Clip plastic clip on release cable (3) into parking brake pedal assembly (12) and hook release cable (3) onto parking brake pedal assembly (12)    
13 Position parking brake pedal assembly (12) and turn in bolt (14, 15) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA42.20-P-1001-01I 
NOTES Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts All models AH00.00-N-0001-01A
14 Thread notched rail (17) into parking brake pedal assembly (12) and allow to latch into first notch (16)    
15 Clip securing clip (18) into place    
16 Connect plug (13) onto parking brake indicator switch (S12)    
17 Route release cable (3) behind paneling upwards and hook ball head of cable in internal component of release (4)    
18 Fasten internal component of release (4) with pulled release (2) using the two bolts    
19 Engage and disengage the parking brake several times in succession IMPORTANT Engaging and disengaging several times enables the cable length to be automatically adjusted using the cable slack adjuster.  
DANGER Risk of death  caused by limbs being caught  or crushed  by rotating parts when performing tests on the brake test stand Never leave the vehicle unattended on the rollers except in an emergency. Ensure that no one is under the vehicle or near rotating parts during testing. In case of emergency, use the EMERGENCY STOP switch to shut down test stand. AS42.00-Z-0001-01A
20 Carry out brake test on the test stand   AP42.00-P-4290BA 
21 Mount footwell trim (1)    
22 Thread hood release (8) into covering under the dashboard (6) and fasten in place using bolt (7)    
23 Fit plug (11) onto data link connector (X11/4) and join with connector (10)    
24 Insert covering under dashboard (6) at rear into corresponding fixtures, fold the covering under the dashboard (6) upwards and fasten in place using bolts (5) IMPORTANT Make sure that the air duct (9) is correctly positioned on the matching piece under the steering wheel.
