Location

The MB-Info and tele-diagnosis button group is located in the center console to the right of the UPCI portable CTEL holder (Universal Portable CTEL Interface) (A34/15).

IMPORTANT The telematics service must be authorized.

Design

The MB-Info and tele-diagnosis button group is designed as follows:

Task

Either a roadside assistance call or MB-Info call be actuated with the MB-Info-and tele-diagnosis button group. Moreover, the current operating state is indicated to the driver by the 2 integrated LEDs.

Function

In the park position, electric current flows through the control resistor installed in the MB-Info and tele-diagnosis pushbutton switch (parallel to switch contacts). When current is flowing through the resistor, the emergency call system control unit (N123/4) knows that the voltage supply line and the ground line are functioning properly. When one of the buttons in the MB-Info and tele-diagnosis button group is pressed, the control resistor is bridged by the switch contact. The MB-Info and tele-diagnosis button group is read in by the emergency call system control unit over 2 discreet lines. When one of the buttons is pressed, the emergency call system control unit transmits the corresponding request. The emergency call system control unit then actuates the LED for visual indication that the function has been actuated.
