Display of TELE AID status, function - GF82.95-P-2015GZU

MODEL 164 with CODE (359) TELE AID emergency call system with CODE (494) USA version up to Model Year 2008 

The SOS button SOS (S93/3) and MB-Info and tele-diagnosis button group (S93/6) serve for display of the status in the emergency call system. The LEDs integrated into the buttons indicate the specific status.

The emergency call system control unit (N123/4) performs a self-test after circuit 15R has been active for approx. 3.5 s. If the test is successful, the system is ready for operation.

Actuation of an emergency call 

Actuation of an emergency call (automatic or manual) is indicated by the LED in the SOS button flashing.

Actuation of a telematics service 

Either an MB-Info call or breakdown assistance call is activated when the buttons in the MB-Info and tele-diagnosis button group are pressed. This is indicated by a flashing LED in the button pressed.

Error displays 

If an error occurs in the system, the LEDs in the SOS button and on the MB-Info and tele-diagnosis button group come on. In the event of an error, an error message appears in the multifunction display (A1p13) in the instrument cluster (A1) and in the display for the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3).

Possible errors include:

• Self-test error
• Power supply too low
• No or incorrect SIM card installed
• Communication with restraint system control unit (N2/7) interrupted
• Communication error with the ESP control unit (N47-5)
• Error in SOS pushbutton switch
• Error in Global Positioning System (GPS) antenna system
• Reception error with backup antenna or telephone antenna
• Vehicle is not authorized or is in the process of authorization
• Memory error in emergency call system control unit (N123/4)
• Personal Identification Number (PIN) has not been stored in the emergency call system control unit by the user or at the factory
• Integrated telephone components in emergency call system control unit faulty

The emergency call system control unit can be coded with STAR DIAGNOSIS so that the system status and error displays do not come on in spite of absent authorization and are indicated in the instrument cluster multifunction display or on the display for the COMAND operating, display and control unit. Deactivation of the status display must be confirmed by the customer to the dealer, in writing, on a preprinted form.
