Location

The voice control system (VCS [SBS]) control unit is installed under the right front seat.

Task

The purpose of the voice control system (VCS [SBS]) is to relieve the user during driving and to provide him/her with access to a series of functions without diverting his/her attention from the traffic situation.

The voice control system (VCS [SBS]) control unit is used to control the communication components and navigation systems installed in the vehicle within the framework of an integrated communication and audio system.

Function

The voice control system (VCS [SBS]) control unit recognizes and processes commands that are spoken together and entered independently from the speaker, and also names specified and trained by the user.

The following functions can be operated:

Operation of the telephone via voice control
Operation of audio components via voice control
Operation of the navigation system via voice control
Operation of the global address book via voice control

Noise reduction

If the voice recognition system (VCS [SBS]) is active, the driving noise of the vehicle can be filtered out of the microphone signals to the greatest extent possible by means of a noise reduction module. In the process, the hands-free speaking quality is also improved significantly.

Echo compensation

Since feedback can occur during voice output (disturbing echos), the voice control system (VCS [SBS]) control unit is equipped with echo compensation which acts in both directions (full duplex).
