Location

The amplifier for the sound system is installed below the driver's seat.

Task

The amplifier for the sound system includes:

The amplifier for the sound system operates using state-of-the-art digital signal processing technology. This means that it operates with the objective of improving the acoustic tone characteristics for the audio range, audio tracks using mathematical algorithms. All input and control signals for the sound system amplifier come over the Media Oriented System Transport bus (MOST). The amplifier for sound system is operated by the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) and it also provides all the menus for user control.

Dynamic volume adaptation

The sound system amplifier is equipped with a dynamic volume adaptation feature. The interior noise is measured by a separate sound amplifier microphone (B25/6) for dynamic volume adaptation. The volume is dynamically adapted to the interior volume level on the basis of the interior volume measured. The sound amplifier microphone is located in the overhead control panel control unit (N70).

Announcement channels

Entertainment channels

In the entertainment channels the following can be adjusted individually:

The user can also operate a nine-channel equalizer to alter the sound. However, the sound presets (Standard, Surround Logic 7) can also be called up.

Function

The sound amplifier microphone measures the interior noise in the vehicle and forwards the determined values to the amplifier for sound system. The sound system amplifier evaluates the readings and adapts the volume of the active audio source.
