Location 

The Digital Audio Broadcasting control unit is located below the rear bench seat on the right.

Depending on the equipment installed one of the following control units will be installed, hereafter referred to as the "audio unit":

• Radio (A2) (with code (510) Audio 20 with CD changer)
• Radio and navigation unit (A2/56) (with code (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio or with code (511) Audio 50 APS with DVD changer)
• COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) (with code (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation) or code (512) COMAND APS with DVD changer)

Receive signals 

Signals are read in via the following connection:

• Direct lines

The following signals are read in via a direct line:

• Power supply via circuit 31 and circuit 30g, each via a direct line
• Electronic wake-up for Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) via a direct line
• Digital Audio Broadcasting (Digital Radio) (DAB) L-band signals via a coaxial line from the DAB/L-band antenna (A2/93a7) in the roof antenna module (A2/93)
• DAB band III signals via coaxial cable from left antenna amplifier module (A2/64) (model 164) or right antenna amplifier module (A2/65) (model 251)

Decoding of signals 

The Digital Audio Broadcasting control unit decodes the DAB L-band signals and DAB band III signals to obtain PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) signals.

Transmitting signals 

The Digital Audio Broadcasting control unit transmits signal over the following connection:

• MOST

• Pulse-Code-Modulation (PCM) signals:
  • Audio signals to sound system amplifier (N40/3) (with code (810) Sound system)
  • Audio signals to "Audio unit" (without code (810) Sound system)
• DAB status and station lists to "Audio unit"
