Function sequence

The trailer's connecting line is hooked up to the trailer hitch socket (7-pin). The trailer's left turn signal lamp and stop lamp circuits are supplied briefly with current from the rear SAM control unit.

The rear SAM control unit detects from the closed circuit for the turn signal lamp or the stop lamps that a trailer is electrically connected.

The rear SAM control unit signals the CAN message "Trailer connected" via CAN-B.

The rear SAM control unit activates the actuation and monitoring of the trailer lighting system.

IMPORTANTVehicles with Parktronic system (PTS), code 220

The CAN message via CAN-B triggers the PTS control unit to shut off the Parktronic sensors in the rear bumper.
