Location

The headlamp range adjustment control unit is located below the front passenger seat.

Task

The headlamp range adjustment control unit has the following tasks:

Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals
Evaluation of input factors
Actuation of components

Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals

The input factors are read in via the following connections:

Direct line
Engine compartment CAN (CAN C)

Direct line

The signals from the following components are read via a direct line:

Right front level sensor (B22/9) (for vehicles without code (489) AIRmatic (air suspension with level adjustment and adaptive damping system ADS))
Right rear level sensor (B22/10) (for vehicles without code (488) Steel/air suspension or code (489) AIRmatic (air suspension with level adjustment and adaptive damping system ADS))

Engine compartment CAN

The headlamp range adjustment control unit reads in the following information in order to control the headlamp range adjustment via the engine compartment CAN:

Circuit 61 status
Signal of the accelerator pedal sensor (B37)
Wheel speeds and wheel rotation directions, brake signal, yaw rate and lateral acceleration
Steering angle, steering angle rate of change, and turn signal status
Circuit 56 status
Diagnosis request
Rear axle level (with code (488) Steel/air suspension)
Vehicle level (with code (489) AIRmatic (air suspension with level adjustment and adaptive damping system (ADS))

Evaluation of input factors

The input factors are evaluated by the microprocessor and the corresponding components are actuated.
