Function requirements for backup light actuation in general 

• Circuit 15 ON

Status of circuit 15 is provided by EZS control unit (N73) on interior CAN (CAN B).

Backup light actuation, general 

The backup light actuation enables the traffic lane to the rear of the vehicle to be illuminated when backing up.

Backup lamp actuation function sequence 

The status of the current transmission mode selector lever position is sent by the intelligent servo module for DIRECT SELECT (A80) to the engine compartment CAN.

The central gateway control unit (N93) routes this over the interior CAN to the rear SAM control unit (N10/8). The rear SAM control unit then actuates the following components directly:

• Left backup lamp (E3e3)
• Right backup lamp (E4e3)
• Backup lamp on trailer (with code (550) Trailer hitch or code (553) Mechanically folded trailer hitch) over the
  • Trailer hitch socket, 13-pin (X58) (without code (460) Canada version or without code (494) USA version)
  • Trailer hitch socket, 7-pin (X58/11) (with code (460) Canada version or code (494) USA version)
