Function requirements, general

Vehicle remote door unlock, general

The vehicle remote door unlock function enables the user to have his/her vehicle remotely unlocked if he has been locked out or has lost the transmitter key (A8/1), for example, and does not have a second transmitter key to hand.

IMPORTANT The vehicle remote door unlock is triggered by the rear-end door external operation switch (S88/8).

Vehicle remote door unlock function sequence

The user notifies the service center, provides legitimization and requests that the vehicle be remotely unlocked. The rear-end door external operation switch must then be operated for at least t = 15 s at a time agreed by phone with the service center.

The actuation of the rear-end door external operation switch is read in by the emergency call system control unit as follows: Via a discrete line to the rear signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) (N10/2), and from there via the interior CAN to the EIS [EZS] control unit (N73), and then via the diagnostic CAN.

The emergency call system control unit then automatically transmits an SMS (SMS = Short Message Service) with the following data to the service center via the communication module that is integrated in the emergency call system control unit:

A voice connection to the service center is also set up at the same time via the communication module that is integrated in the emergency call system control unit. The communication module that is integrated in the emergency call system control unit transmits the cellular phone signals or data via a discrete line to the radio and cell phone antenna splitter (A28/1) and then to the telephone and fax antenna (A2/22).

The service center compares the data sent with the request and customer legitimization and if the data matches a "vehicle remote door unlock request" is sent to the vehicle.

The communication module that is integrated in the emergency call system control unit receives the "vehicle remote door unlock request" discretely via the telephone and fax antenna and the radio and cell phone antenna splitter.

After receiving the "vehicle remote door unlock request", the emergency call system control unit sends the request to the EIS [EZS] control unit via diagnostic CAN.

The EIS [EZS] control unit then initiates the unlocking of all vehicle doors as well as the unlocking of the rear-end door.

IMPORTANT The execution of the vehicle remote door unlock is displayed by a message in the instrument cluster (A1).

IMPORTANT If the "vehicle remote door unlock request" from the service center is rejected, then the vehicle remote door unlock function is blocked for t = 15 min.
