Location

Amplifier module 1 and amplifier module 2 are installed in the load compartment over the left side window.

Location

Amplifier module 3 and amplifier module 4 are installed in the load compartment over the right side window.

Task

The amplifier modules filter and amplify the radio or television signals received by the side window antenna (A2/33).

The radio frequency band is received by the amplifier module 1, amplified and then transmitted over a coaxial cable straight to the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3).

For vehicles without code (EM9) TV tuner and without code (498) Japan version only amplifier module 1 is installed. For vehicles with code (498) Japan version, amplifier module 3 is also used for radio reception.

The television signal is received by amplifier module 1, amplifier module 2, amplifier module 3 and amplifier module 4, then amplified and transmitted in each case over a coaxial cable straight to the TV tuner (analog/digital) (A90/1) (code (EM9) TV tuner) or the TV antenna selector (A2/79) (code (498) Japan version).
