Inspect condition of brake disks - AP42.10-P-4258R

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install    
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
DANGER Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by handling hot or glowing objects. Wear safety gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. AS00.00-Z-0002-01A
1 Detach complete wheels   AP40.10-P-4050Z
2 Remove brake pads on rear axle    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR Remove/check/install rear axle brake pads. Model 230.470/472/474/476/477/479 AR42.10-P-1700RA
INSPECT Checking     
3 Check brake disks (61) for score marks and hairline cracks IMPORTANT Hairline cracks can occur due to high stress.
IMPORTANT Ventilated, brake disks (61) with perforations and without perforations do not have to be replaced if the hairline crack length (1) is a maximum of 25 mm.
IMPORTANT On perforated brake disks (61), the hairline crack length (1) including the hole diameter must be measured.
With gaping hairline cracks and scores deeper than 0.5 mm: ↓
 
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR Replace brake disks. AR42.10-P-0220R
CLEAN Clean     
4 If necessary, clean the perforation in the brake disks (61) Vehicles with perforated brake disks (61)  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR Cleaning perforations in brake discs AR42.10-P-2260-01I
MEASURING Measure     
5 Measure thickness of brake disks on front and rear axles using caliper gauge SPECIAL TOOL (035) IMPORTANT Observe wear limits of brake disks (61) so that these are not dropped below up to the next maintenance service, if necessary: ↓  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR Replace brake disks.
Test values for brake disks:

SPECIAL TOOL Measuring caliper *140589001900
6 Install in the reverse order
