REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
NOTES Information on preventing damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge   AH54.00-P-0001-01A
1 Switch off ignition    
2 Remove right engine intake air duct    
3 Remove expansion reservoir (1) of power steering from holder (1a) Vehicles with electrohydraulic power steering (EHPS)
IMPORTANT Release expansion reservoir (1), remove upwards and place to one side with hoses attached.
 
4.1 Remove holder (1a) for power steering expansion reservoir (1) Vehicles with EHPS  
4.2 Detach electrical connector from coolant expansion reservoir (2) and place coolant expansion reservoir (2) to one side with lines connected Vehicles without EHPS  
CLEAN Clean     
5 Clean the surroundings of the electrical connector (3) and the control unit (N47-5) NOTES Before opening the brake system the area around the separation point should be cleaned thoroughly. Even the smallest particles of dirt, introduced into the hydraulic components, can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the brake system.
Only use clean, lint free rags and cleaner free of mineral oil. Do not use any compressed-air for cleaning when the brake system is open.
 
Cleaner from package *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
6 Separate electrical connector (3) from control unit (N47-5) NOTES Observe notes, otherwise damage to the locking mechanism can occur!
NOTES In order to avoid damage and malfunctions, do not touch, deform or damage contacts of connector and jack! Do not allow any foreign objects, dirt fluids to enter the jack or connector!

7 Remove bolts (5) NOTESInstallation:  Maintain torque exactly Too large torque values lead to damage to the control unit (N47-5), too low to a defective connection of the contact areas.
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Replace bolts (5).
 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA42.45-P-1002-01L 
8 Detach control unit (N47-5) from hydraulic unit (A7/3) and remove NOTES In order to avoid damage, neither touch the contact areas and silicon seal by hand nor with a tool.  
9 Remove O-rings (6) of valve dome (7) by hand NOTES Do not use a tool otherwise the hydraulic unit (A7/3) will be damaged.  
CLEAN Clean     
10 Clean the sealing surface on the hydraulic unit (A7/3) Cleaner from package *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
11 Install in the reverse order    
12 Commission control unit (N47-5) using STAR DIAGNOSIS IMPORTANT Under "control units" - "suspension" - "ABR" select the menu item "commissioning" and process all steps.  
Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory AD00.00-P-2000-04A
