	Remove/install
	Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts		AH00.00-N-0001-01A
		When working on the front-end assembly, be careful not to scratch, mark or notch the surfaces of aluminum parts. Otherwise the service life of the of the parts will be reduced.
		Only tighten bolts and nuts of the chassis components in the curb condition.

1	Release pressure in suspension strut (40) completely using STAR DIAGNOSIS	Vehicles with AIRmatic
	Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS		AD00.00-P-2000-04A
2	Remove front wheel
	Remove/install wheels		AP40.10-P-4050SX
3	Unscrew compressed air terminal (40c) from suspension strut (40).	Vehicles with AIRmatic

4	Remove left or right front level sensor (B22/8 or B22/9) from upper transverse control arm (6)		*BA82.10-P-1001-01A
5	Detach follower joint (8) from steering knuckle (5).	When doing so, secure the steering knuckle (5) with a cable tie (9) to prevent it from tilting away. The brake hose and electrical feed cables must not be stretched.	AR33.20-P-0500-01SX

6	Support suspension strut (40) using floor jack (01)
7	Unscrew nuts (2)		*BA32.25-P-1001-04L
8	Lower floor jack (01) carefully until the threaded studs of the suspension strut (40) are moved out of the front end
	Left upper transverse control arm
9	Remove the left engine intake air duct	Except engine 651
10	Unclip expansion reservoir (3) of power steering from bracket	Vehicles with code (487) Active Body Control (ABC)
11	Detach vacuum line (4) from brake booster and place to one side
12	Undo nuts (6a) and remove bolts (6b) from upper transverse control arm (6).		*BA33.20-P-1002-01M
13	Remove upper transverse control arm (6)
14	Check follower joint (8) and rubber boot for signs of damage	Replace upper transverse control arm (6) if necessary.

15.1	Remove starter battery (G1/4).	Vehicles with production period up to 1.6.08 except code (809) Model year 2009	AR54.10-P-0008SX
15.2	Remove high-voltage battery	Model 221.095/195	AR54.10-P-1140SXH
16	Detach battery base from body
17	Disconnect electrical connector (11) from coolant expansion reservoir (10)
18	Remove expansion reservoir (10) for coolant and place it along with the connected coolant lines to one side
19	Undo nuts (6a) and remove bolts (6b) from upper transverse control arm (6).		*BA33.20-P-1002-01M

20	Remove upper transverse control arm (6)
21	Check follower joint (8) and rubber boot for signs of damage	Replace upper transverse control arm (6) if necessary.
22	Install in the reverse order
