1. Detach outer insulation material (13) from glove box (14) and fold upwards.
2. Open glove box lid, make marking as shown on glove box (14) and drill a hole with a diameter of 20 mm. Cordless drill/driver

   Dimension:  A = 20 mm (distance of hole to reference edge (arrow B)). The upper edge of the glove box lamp (E13/1) serves as a horizontal reference edge.

3. Route black coupling for iPod wiring harness (8) through the hole drilled into the glove box (14) and outwards then seal the hole with grommet (12).

   The black coupling for the iPod wiring harness is connected when the iPod interface is installed.

4. Fold back outer insulation material on the glove box (14).

5. Place wiring harness for iPod interface (2) into installation opening for COMAND controller unit.
6. Expose both optical fibers on the vehicle wiring harness (arrow C).
7. Remove optical fiber coupling (15) from black 20-pin coupling (3) and install at the same position in the black 20-pin coupling (5) of the wiring harness for the iPod interface (2).
8. Fasten both optical fibers approx. 50 mm behind the black 20-pin coupling (5) using insulation tape to the wiring harness for the iPod interface (2) (arrow D).
9. Connect black 20-pin coupling (3) and black 20-pin plug (4), then wrap completely with felt tape and stow under the installation frame (16) of the COMAND controller unit.
10. Route black 18-pin coupling (6) and white 2-pin coupling (7) on wiring harness for iPod interface (2), as shown, into the front passenger footwell.

    The black 18-pin coupling (6) and white 2-pin coupling (7) are not connected until the iPod interface is installed.
