Location 

The gear selector switch DIRECT SELECT is a part of the steering column module and it is located at the right in the area between the multifunction steering wheel (MFL) and instrument cluster (A1).

Task 

The gear selector switch for DIRECT SELECT enables the driver to select the desired shift range. The signal from the DIRECT SELECT gear selector switch is read in by the steering column module via the steering LIN and placed on the chassis CAN.

The gear selector switch for DIRECT SELECT is returned spring-centered to the "0" position once the shift has been made.
