Function requirements

IMPORTANT To ensure that a mobile phone with Bluetooth capability that is also authorized at the COMAND controller unit can be used in the vehicle, the mobile phone must support handsfree profile (HFP) 1.0 or 1.5.

General

The mobile phone system allows mobile phones operating with the Personal Digital Cellular (PDC), Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA), Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) and Freedom of Mobile Multimedia Access (FOMA) networks to be operated in the vehicle. The mobile phone system consists of the following subfunctions :

The mobile phone system also includes the following subfunctions:

The system is described using example of a mobile phone connected to the cell phone separation point. Deviations from this are indicated with the symbol. IMPORTANT

Address book

The user can manage all the contact data in the address book (view, edit, add, delete and create). The address book contains the address entries stored in the COMAND controller unit.

In addition, data (names, vCards and standard numbers) can be loaded from the telephone book in the mobile phone into the address book of the COMAND controller unit.

The data from the mobile phone telephone book is then permanently available.

Address entries can only be removed by deleting individual entries or by deleting the entire address book.

The Bluetooth interface of the mobile phone and the Bluetooth antenna (A2/91) can be used to transmit data from other external devices (e.g. PDA, laptop, etc.) into the address book. The COMAND controller unit's PCMCIA slot can be used to transfer vCards from a PCMCIA card into the address book. These data are then permanently available as address entries. Address-relevant mobile phone system applications can be directly started and supplied with the stored data via address book entries.

Address entries can contain the following:

150 entries can be provided with voice commands (voice tags) for the voice control system (VCS). The address book displays the address entries stored in the COMAND controller unit and the data loaded from the mobile phone's telephone book.

IMPORTANT With a mobile phone operated with Bluetooth, read access to the telephone book in the mobile phone is possible when the mobile phone supports the Bluetooth Profile Phonebook Access Profile (PBAP).

"Private mode"

When in "Private mode", the user can make a telephone call without other vehicle occupants being able to hear the conversation. "Private mode" is also possible using a Bluetooth headset. "Private mode" is activated by pressing the button on the headset. "Private mode" is also possible in the rear of the vehicle using Bluetooth handset.

"Seamless Switch"

"Seamless switch" means either than an existing call to the mobile phone is held when the phone is separated from the cell phone separation point or that an existing call is routed to the COMAND controller unit when the mobile phone is connected to the cell phone separation point.

Toggling

The user can switch back and forth between telephone calls with 2 people. While the user talks to one person on the line, the connection to the other is put on hold. However, voice transmission is interrupted.
