	Risk of injury to skin or eyes from hydraulic fluid spraying out under pressure. Risk of poisoning from swallowing hydraulic fluid.	Depressurize hydraulic system completely before starting any work on it. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses.	AS00.00-Z-0013-01A

3.1	Remove upper engine cover	Engine 642 Place upper engine cover onto padded base. Otherwise it may be damaged.
3.2	Remove front engine cover	Engine 156, 276 Place engine cover onto padded base. Otherwise it may be damaged.
3.3	Remove cylinder head cover trim	ENGINE 651 without EHPS, 646

4	Remove cap (1) of power steering expansion reservoir (2)	Before opening the hydraulic system of the power steering, thoroughly clean the area surrounding the separation point. Even the smallest particles of dirt can lead to malfunctions and damage to hydraulic components. Press the cap (1) downwards and turn counterclockwise through 90°.
5	Wipe off oil dipstick (1a) with a fluff-free rag and seal the expansion reservoir (2) with cap (1)	Press the cap (1) downwards and turn clockwise through 90°.
	Check
6	Remove cap (1) and read off oil level on oil dipstick (1a)	Observe oil temperature and markings on oil dipstick (1a). Corresponding to the oil temperature, the oil level must be between the "MIN" and "MAX" marks. In order to avoid measurement errors, hold the oil dipstick (1a) upright. If the oil level is too low: ↓ Determine and rectify cause, subject to separate repair order.
	Install
7	Seal expansion reservoir (2) with cap (1)	Press the cap (1) downwards and turn clockwise through 90°.
8.1	Install upper engine cover	Engine 642
8.2	Fit front engine cover	Engine 156, 276
8.3	Install trim panel of cylinder head cover	ENGINE 651 without EHPS, 646
