The engine diagnosis indicator lamp (with yellow engine symbol) is located in the center of the instrument cluster (A1).

The engine diagnosis indicator lamp (with yellow engine signal) is located on the bottom left of the instrument cluster (A1).

Task

The indicator lamp alerts the driver to the reoccurrence of faults relevant to exhaust emissions.

Function

The ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) actuates the indicator lamp, whilst it sends a corresponding signal to the instrument cluster via the chassis CAN (CAN E).

As a function check the indicator lamp is actuated at "Ignition ON". It goes out after engine start if there are no faults relevant to exhaust emissions.
