	Opening
	Risk of injury  to fingers being jammed or pinched  when Remove/install or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/tailgate or sliding roof.	When moving components, ensure that no body parts or limbs are within the operating range of moving parts.
1	Pull lever (2) in left front footwell to unlock engine hood (1)
2	Press locking lever (3) upward and open engine hood (1)
	Moving to upright position
3	Push engine hood (1) at recess (arrow) for Mercedes star upward beyond dead center point of engine hood hinge to upright position	The engine hood (1) is moved and held in the vertical position by the spring force of the gas pressure struts.
	Closing
4	Press engine hood (1) at recess (arrow) for Mercedes star down and lock
5	Ensure that engine hood locks (1) properly
