Remove/install wheel sensor - AR40.15-P-0080A (Beru)

MODEL 210, 211 up to 31.5.05, 215, 219.3 up to 31.5.05, 220, 230 up to 31.5.05, 240 with CODE (475) Tire pressure monitor (Beru)

REMOVING Removing     
IMPORTANT Notes on using tester for tire pressure monitoring systems Tester MB 2000E AH40.15-P-0001-01A
1 Remove valve cap (1) NOTES Only use valve caps (1) made of plastic otherwise corrosion damage will occur  
2 Detach tires Model 210, 211, 215,
Model 220 without code Z07 Top protection and PAX system emergency wheel,
Model 230,
Model 240 without CSR system emergency wheel
AR40.10-P-1030A 
    Model 219.3 AR40.10-P-1030TX
    Model 220 with code 979 Special protection version and PAX system emergency wheel AR40.10-P-1030MB
    Model 240 with CSR system emergency wheel AR40.10-P-1030CSR
3 Unscrew union nut (2) and remove spacer ring (2a) from valve body (3) IMPORTANT If necessary insert assembly tool for tire pressure monitor or pin (2 mm dia.) for counter-holding in bore (3b).  
4 Remove TPM wheel sensor (A69/1 to A69/5) with valve body (3)    
5 Unscrew bolt (3a) and remove valve body (3) from TPM wheel sensor (A69/1 to A69/5) When reusing the TPM wheel sensor (A69/1 to A69/5)
IMPORTANT If necessary insert assembly tool for tire pressure monitor or pin (2 mm dia.) for counter-holding in bore (3b).
 
CLEAN Clean     
6 Clean TPM wheel sensor (A69/1 to A69/5) When reusing the TPM wheel sensor (A69/1 to A69/5)
IMPORTANT Do not remove white filter surface on the underside of the TPM wheel sensor (A69/1 to A69/5). Only remove dirt with a clean, lint-free cloth. Do not use compressed air, solvents or cleaners.
 
7 Clean the disk wheel in the area of the valve bore    
INSPECT Checking     
8 Carry out visual inspection of the TPM wheel sensor (A69/1 to A69/5) When reusing the TPM wheel sensor (A69/1 to A69/5)
IMPORTANT Replace the TPM wheel sensor (A69/1 to A69/5) if the
  • white filter surface is damaged or dirty.

  • TIREFIT tire sealant has been used.
  • Damage is recognizable.
  • It is more than 5 years old according to the a date of manufacture (H).
 
9 Check disk wheel for damage in the area of the valve bore    
INSTALLING Install     
10 Detach the label (4) with the identification number (i) of the TPM wheel sensor (A69/1 to A69/5) and affix to the maintenance booklet When replacing the TPM wheel sensor (A69/1 to A69/5)
IMPORTANT The identification number (i) is also noted on the TPM wheel sensor (A69/1 to A69/5).
IMPORTANT Observe transmission frequency (F) of the TPM wheel sensor (A69/1 to A69/5):
  • Vehicles with code 494 USA version: 315 MHz
  • Vehicles without USA version: 433 Mhz
 
11 Replace bolt (3a), valve body (3) and union nut (2) with spacer ring (2a) When reusing the TPM wheel sensor (A69/1 to A69/5)
IMPORTANT Guide bolt (3a) into TPM wheel sensor (A69/1 to A69/5) and screw on valve body (3) approx. 3 revolutions
 
12 Insert TPM wheel sensor (A69/1 to A69/5) with valve body (3) into the valve bore of the disk wheel IMPORTANT The bore (3b) must point upwards.  
13 Mount spacer ring (2a) and tighten union nut (2) IMPORTANT Observe the tightening torques for the different gasket versions: ↓  
REFER TO COMPONENT MODIFICATIONS   Gasket of valve body modified. BT40.15-P-0080-01A
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION If necessary insert assembly tool for tire pressure monitor or pin (2 mm dia.) for counter-holding in bore (3b).  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA40.15-P-1001-01A 
14 Tighten screw (3a). IMPORTANT In the process press the TPM wheel sensor (A69/1 to A69/5) slightly into the drop center of the disk wheel.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA40.15-P-1002-01A 
15 Mount tire Model 210, 211, 215,
Model 220 without code Z07 Top protection and PAX system emergency wheel, Model 230,
Model 240 without CSR system emergency wheel
AR40.10-P-1030A 
    Model 219.3 AR40.10-P-1030TX
    Model 220 with code 979 Special protection version and PAX system emergency wheel AR40.10-P-1030MB
    Model 240 with CSR system emergency wheel AR40.10-P-1030CSR
IMPORTANT To activate the tire pressure monitor, carry out operation step 16 or  17 as an alternative    
16 Code the identification number (i) of the TPM wheel sensor (A69/1 to A69/5) and specified tire pressure in the TPM control unit using STAR DIAGNOSIS When replacing the TPM wheel sensor (A69/1 to A69/5)  
    IMPORTANT Process all steps under: Control units - Chassis - TPM tire pressure monitor - Initial startup - initial startup with manual adjustment of the new control unit.  
17 Activate the tire pressure monitoring system When replacing the TPM wheel sensor (A69/1 to A69/5)
On model 211, 219.3, 230, 240: ↓
Perform adjustments to the control system
 
    Model 211 AR54.30-P-1000-02RAT
    Model 219.3 AR54.30-P-1000-02RAX
