	Remove/install
	Information on preventing damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge		AH54.00-P-0001-01A
1	Perform initial startup of hard disk (2) at COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) with STAR DIAGNOSIS	When replacing hard disk (2).	AD00.00-P-2000-04A
		The following faults require an exchange of the hard disk (2): System starts only as far as the star symbol and then shuts itself off again Permanent fault messages such as: Navigation unavailable Drive unavailable Music Register nonfunctional Fault code 94D9: Hard disk has malfunction
2	Remove the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3)		AR82.85-P-7472RA
3	Set down COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) on an electrostatic discharge (ESD) workstation	Otherwise damage to the electronics of the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) or the hard disk (2) may occur.
4	Remove screws/bolts (1)
5	Remove hard disk (2) upward (arrow)	Avoid contact of the conductor tracks on the circuit board, otherwise damage to the electronics of the hard disk (2) or the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) may occur.
6	Install in the reverse order
7	Update map data for navigation system		-
8	Perform function test
