Risk of injury caused by pinching or crushing when working on springs or spring bodies that are under tension - AS00.00-Z-0001-01A

Use only approved tensioning devices; shield off hazard area if necessary. Inspect special tools for damage and proper operation (visual inspection). Wear protective gloves.

Risk of pinching and jamming body parts when working on pre-tensioned components.

When detaching or removing parts that are under tension (e.g. springs, spring-loaded actuators, air springs) serious injuries can occur if non-approved  clamping devices are used and if the work instructions are not observed  .

Safety instructions/precautions

Release pressure in air springs as per the work instructions given in STAR DIAGNOSIS.

When conducting repair work on springs, spring bodies, spring-loaded actuators and other components under tension use approved clamping devices only  and observe the work instructions.

Spring compressors

Spring compressors may be placed under tension or released with an impact wrench only when this is explicitly permitted by the manufacturer.

Check clamping devices

IMPORTANT The coil diameter of the spring should match the groove in the clamping plate.

IMPORTANT Before a spring is placed under tension, always check the proper seating of the clamping plates on the spring and on the tensioning device.

Wear protective gloves during all operations.
