Prepare A-pillar with side longitudinal member for installation - AR63.20-P-1150-06SX

REPAIR MATERIALS

  1. Scribe separation line on upper inner A-pillar (1) (area A).

    IMPORTANT Transfer separation line on upper inner A-pillar (1) from vehicle (area A).

  2. Separate upper inner A-pillar (1) at separation point using body saw (area A).
  3. Grind mating surfaces on upper inner A-pillar (1) in cross-hatched areas using COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS round wire brush.

  4. Using zinc dust paint, coat insides of spot weld flanges and riveted joints that were not additionally bonded.

    NOTES To prevent adhesion problems, do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint. (areas B, C, D, E and F).

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

    IMPORTANT Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.

  5. Scribe separation line on inner outer longitudinal member (2) (areas G and H).
  6. Separate inner outer longitudinal member (2) at separation point using body saw (areas G and H).

    IMPORTANT Do not damage underlying sheet metal panel (area H).

  7. Expose spot welds on inner outer longitudinal member (2) (area J).
  8. Cut out spot welds on inner outer longitudinal member (2) using SPECIAL TOOL spot weld milling cutter

  9. Grind mating surfaces on inner outer longitudinal member (2) in cross-hatched areas using COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS round wire brush.

    IMPORTANT Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.

  10. Using zinc dust paint, coat insides of spot weld flanges that were not additionally bonded (area T).

    NOTES To prevent adhesion problems, do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint. (areas K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R and S).

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

  11. Scribe separation line on outer longitudinal member (3) (area U).

    IMPORTANT Transfer separation line on outer longitudinal member (3) from vehicle (area U).

  12. Separate outer longitudinal member (3) at separation point using COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS cutting disk (area U).

  13. Grind mating surfaces on outer longitudinal member (3) in cross-hatched areas using COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS round wire brush.

    IMPORTANT Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.

  14. Using zinc dust paint, coat insides of spot weld flanges that were not additionally bonded.
