Wiring harness routing for illuminated door sill moldings
Start routing the illuminated door sill moldings wiring harness (2) in the area of the right rear bench seat (ground (right rear seat)).
- Route illuminated door sill moldings wiring harness (2) in the vehicle as per the routing diagram.
- Route the illuminated door sill moldings wiring harness (2) over the right wheelhouse toward the rear into the load compartment and fasten to onboard wiring harness using cable ties.
- Route branch-off line for the left side of illuminated door sill moldings wiring harness (2) under the rear bench seat and fasten to floor panel using felt tape (see picture).
The branch-off line for the left side is longer than the branch-off line for the right side.
- Loosen nuts (11) from the cover of the cable duct and lift up cover.
Only lift up cover as far as is necessary to place the illuminated door sill moldings wiring harness (2) next to the cable duct.
- Position black, 2-pin coupling (4) and black, 8-pin coupling (5) as shown.
- Close cover of cable duct again and fasten with nuts (11).
The routing is the same for both sides.
Connection of illuminated door sill moldings wiring harness
Start with the connection in the load compartment.
- Disconnect black plug C (20) of rear SAM control unit (N10/8) and remove contact carrier (21) for pin 1 to 26.
- Unpin line from contact cavity 1 of contact carrier (21) and pin into contact cavity 1 of included black, 2-pin connector housing (22).
Line in contact cavity 1 is the "Front passenger door contact" signal.
- Unpin line from contact cavity 14 of contact carrier (21), pin into contact cavity 2 of included black, 2-pin connector housing (22) and lock connector housing (22).
Line in contact cavity 14 is the "Driver door contact" signal.
- Pin black/blue line (sw/bl) of illuminated door sill moldings wiring harness (2) into contact cavity 14 of contact carrier (21).
- Pin brown/white line (br/ws) of illuminated door sill moldings wiring harness (2) into contact cavity 1 of contact carrier (21).
- Reinstall contact carrier (21) into black plug C (20) and connect to rear SAM control unit (N10/8).
- Connect black, 2-pin connector housing (22) to black, 2-pin coupling (7) of illuminated door sill moldings wiring harness (2).
- Disconnect blue, 10-pin plug P3 (8) from load compartment fuse and relay box (F4).
- Pin the two red lines (rt) combined in one contact spring into contact cavity 7 of blue, 10-pin plug P3 (8).
- Connect blue, 10-pin plug P3 (8) to load compartment fuse and relay box (F4).
- Reinstall load compartment fuse and relay box (F4).
- Insert one 10 A fuse into free slot 37 of load compartment fuse and relay box (F4).
- Connect ground branch-off line of illuminated door sill moldings wiring harness (2) to ground (right rear seat) (W17).
- Connect black, 8-pin coupling (5) to inverter (12).
- Position inverter (12) under front seat next to cable duct (see picture).
The inverter (12) is held in position by the lining.
- Connect black, 2-pin coupling (4) to illuminated door sill moldings (1) and then slide the connector into the cable duct (see picture).
The connection and the position of inverter and connector is the same on both sides.
