MODIFICATION NOTES

19.8.09 Remove air filter box, RH partition wall section, air filter housing, air duct Steps 2.2 to 4
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by fingers being pinched or crushed  when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lids, liftgates or sliding roof Keep body parts and limbs well clear of moving parts. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A
NOTES Information on preventing damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge   AH54.00-P-0001-01A
1 Switch off ignition and remove the transmitter key from the EIS [EZS] control unit IMPORTANT On vehicles with code (889) Keyless Go: Press keyless go start/stop button repeatedly until ignition is switched off. Remove transmitter key from vehicle and store it in a location beyond its transmission range (at least 2 m).
2.1 Remove air filter housing (1). Except engine 272.973 in model 164.195 AR09.10-P-1150GZA
2.2 Remove air filter box (8) Engine 272.973 in model 164.195
3 Remove RH partition wall section (9) Engine 272.973 in model 164.195
4 Remove air filter housing (10) and air duct (11) Engine 272.973 in model 164.195
NOTES Handle air duct (11) carefully; risk of breakage of the hot film MAF sensor (B2/5).

5 Separate electrical connector at hot film mass air flow sensor (B2/5)
6 Disengage the right notch (3a) of the hot film mass air flow sensor (B2/5) on resonance intake manifold IMPORTANT Pull right notch (3a) to the outside until it can no longer latch again on resonance intake manifold.
NOTES Never use force as the notches can break off! If the notches (3a, 3b) break off, the entire hot film MAF sensor (B2/5) must be replaced.

7 Unlatch left notch (3b) on hot film MAF sensor (B2/5) on resonance intake manifold and remove hot film MAF sensor (B2/5) upwards IMPORTANT Do not the damage the grid (A) in the process as it cannot be replaced separately!
NOTES Never use force as the notches can break off! If the notches (3a, 3b) break off, the entire hot film MAF sensor (B2/5) must be replaced.

INSPECT Checking
8 Check gasket (7) between air duct housing (4) and hot film mass air flow sensor (B2/5) IMPORTANT Check seal (7) for damage; replace if necessary.
9 Check right notch (3a) and left notch (3b) IMPORTANT If notches (3a, 3b) are damaged, then the entire hot film MAF sensor (B2/5) must be replaced with a new one.
10 Install in the reverse order
11 Read out fault memory and erase if necessary IMPORTANT Faults which may have been caused by disconnecting wires or by a simulation must be erased in the fault memory after completing the work.
