Location 

The lower control panel control unit is located underneath the upper control panel control unit (N72/1) on the instrument panel.

Task 

The lower control panel control unit is connected to the upper control panel control unit over the instrument panel LIN (LIN-1). The requests issued by the driver are thus read in by the upper control panel control unit via the instrument panel LIN and placed on the interior CAN (CAN-B). The following functions are requested by actuating the switches located on the lower control panel control unit:

• Downhill Speed Regulation with speed setting adjustable to between v = 4 and 18 km/h by actuating the Downhill Speed Regulation switch
• Change from on-road ratio (high) to off-road ratio (low) by actuating the Low Range switch
• Raise vehicle level by actuation of level control HIGH switch (on model 164.1)
• Lower vehicle level by actuation of level control LOW switch (on model 164.1)
• Raise and lower vehicle level by actuation of level control selector wheel (on model 164.8)
• Automatic locking of transfer case differential (interaxle differential lock) and of rear axle differential (interwheel differential lock) by rotating differential lock selector wheel to the "AUTO" (A) position
• Manual 100% locking of transfer case differential (interaxle differential lock) and automatic locking of rear axle differential (interwheel differential lock) by rotating differential lock selector wheel to position (B)
• Manual 100% locking of transfer case differential (interaxle differential lock) and of rear axle differential (interwheel differential lock) by rotating differential lock selector wheel to position (C)
