Risk of injury caused by body parts being jammed or crushed. Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by brake fluid spraying out at high pressure when working on the SBC brake system - AS42.46-Z-0001-01A
Deactivate SBC brake system using STAR DIAGNOSIS.
MODEL 199, 230, 240
Deactivate SBC brake system using STAR DIAGNOSIS
MODEL 211, 219 with Sensotronic Brake Control (SBC), deactivate SBC brake system using STAR DIAGNOSIS
Risk of injury
When activated, the SBC brake system automatically builds up high pressure in the brake system from time to time. The SBC brake system must therefore be deactivated before performing maintenance and repair work.
Automatic extension of brake pistons may result in serious bodily injury (pinched or crushed body parts).
The brake pressure that is built up automatically may cause brake fluid to escape at high pressure, possibly resulting in serious injuries.
Safety precautions/instructions
Deactivate SBC brake system using STAR DIAGNOSIS.
Never perform maintenance or repair work on an active SBC brake system.
The SBC brake system builds up high pressure and pushes the brake cylinders out automatically when:
- the vehicle is opened using the remote control.
- the driver-side, front passenger-side, or rear door is opened.
- the trunk is opened.
- the key is turned to position 1 in the ignition lock.
- the brake pedal is operated.
- the parking brake is released.
- the system performs a self-test (pre-drive check).
