Amplifying and decoding signals 

The Satellite digital audio radio control unit (SDAR) decodes and amplifies the satellite signals (Time For Division Multiplex (TDM)) and terrestrial signals (Coded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex (COFDM)) in pulse mode modulation (PCM) signals.

Transmitting signals 

The signals are transmitted via the following connections:

• Multifunction antenna (power supply to antenna, remote supply via antenna input)

• Audio signals to the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3) (with CODE 810 (Sound system)) or the audio equipment (except CODE 810 (Sound system))
• SDAR status, program-specific information (e.g. artist, track name) and music category (e.g. ROCK, NEWS) to the audio equipment
• As of 01.06.2010: Real Time Traffic Data real time traffic service (RTTD) to navigation processor of COMAND controller unit (A40/3) (with CODE 512 (COMAND APS with DVD changer))
