Location
The TV digital tuner is located in the trunk on the right side wall behind the paneling on a bracket.
Shown on model 204.0 up to 31.5.2012
Task
In addition to the TV reception, the TV digital tuner also supports the following functions:
- "Electronic Program Guide"
Enables reception and display of information about the broadcast (e.g. title, time, duration of broadcast, encryption, program category, age restriction, etc.).
- Broadcast Markup Language (BML)
Enables the reception and structured display of information that is sent by the available stations (e.g. on the weather, news and traffic information). Reception of regional information is also possible.
- 2 languages are supported, depending on station availability (e.g. Japanese and English)
- Digital image storage (as of 1.6.2012)
- Last settings (as of 1.6.2012)
The digital TV tuner installed as standard with code (498) Japan version is equipped with code (865) TV tuner.
With TV reception, the digital TV tuner fulfills the following tasks:
- Receive signals
- Demodulating and decoding signals
- Transmitting signals
Receive signals
- Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)
- Direct lines
Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)
The TV digital tuner is a subscriber of MOST and communicates with the COMAND controller unit (A40/3).
Direct lines
- Power supply via circuit 31 and circuit 30g
- Electronic wake-up for MOST
- TV 1: TV 1 and DAB band III antenna amplifier (A94/1) (model 204.0), TV 1 antenna amplifier (A94/1) (model 204.2/3), FM 2, DAB and TV 1 antenna amplifier (A94/1) (model 204.9)
- TV 2: TV 2 and KEYLESS-GO antenna amplifier (A94/2) (model 204.0/3), TV 2 antenna amplifier (A94/2) (model 204.2/9)
- TV 3: TV 3 antenna amplifier (A94/3)
Demodulating and decoding signals
The TV signals are evaluated internally and separated into video and audio signals.
Transmitting signals
- MOST
- Direct lines
MOST
The TV digital tuner is a subscriber of MOST and communicates with the COMAND controller unit.
Direct lines
- Phantom power supply via TV 1, TV 2 and TV 3 to the connected antenna amplifiers
- Transmission of video signals via a Y-brightness (luminance)/C-color information (chrominance) (Y/C) line to the COMAND controller unit
Body
The TV digital tuner is delivered with a "B-CAS card". Up to 31.5.2012, the card slot in the digital TV tuner is sealed with a cap to prevent unintended removal of the "B-CAS card". As of 1.6.2012, the "B-CAS card" is designed as a subscriber identification module (SIM) card and inserted in the SIM card reader. The SIM card reader does not have a cover.
