High-voltage connector cover
There is a removal cover over the screw high-voltage connections.
This cover interrupts the interlock circuit during disassembly.
Interlock circuit
The interlock circuit is used as contact protection to protect people against inadvertent contact with high-voltage batteries. For this purpose, a 12 V/20 mA interlock signal is looped through all high-voltage system components that are to be dismantled or opened. To do this there is a contact bridge in each removable high-voltage connection which interrupts the interlock circuit during removal of the high-voltage connection. The interlock circuit is also led switched in a series over the 12 V control unit plug connection of the high-voltage components.

The power electronics control unit is integrated in the power electronics module.
Task
General
The power electronics control unit contains the operating strategy and coordinates all power flows and torques in the hybrid drive system with the aim of minimizing system losses and thus fuel consumption.
The power electronics control unit is mainly responsible for torque coordination and energy management. To do this it controls and monitors the electric machines 1 and 2 (A79/1, A79/2). The power electronics control unit also controls the impulse converter and the transmission oil pump electric motor (M42).
The power electronics control unit in a CAN connection with the components:
- ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10)
- Hybrid vehicle fully integrated transmission control controller unit (Y3/10)
- Regenerative braking system control unit (N30/6)
- Battery management system control unit (A100n1)
- DC/DC converter control unit (N83/1) makes the hybrid drive system.
CAN data bus
The power electronics control unit is connected via the hybrid CAN (CAN L) and drive train CAN (CAN C1) to the CAN network for the vehicle and exchanges data with other control units.
Coding/flashing capability
The power electronics control unit is flashable which means that the complete software in the control unit can be updated. The software required to program the control units is stored on the STAR DIAGNOSIS DAS Update DVD.
