The requests from the combination switch are transmitted via the steering column module and the central gateway control unit to the rear SAM control unit, which actuates the tailgate wiper motor. The tailgate wiper system is operated manually for forward travel via the combination switch in intermittent operation with a pause time of approx. 5 s.
Model 164.8:
A corresponding symbol is displayed in the multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster.
For reverse travel, the tailgate wiper is:
- actuated as for forward travel with a 5 s interval if intermittent operation is switched on via the combination switch
- actuated in accordance with the front wiper wipe cycles if in rain sensor mode it is not switched on via the combination switch
If the combination switch is set to continuous wiping at the front, corresponding continuous wiping also takes place for the tailgate wiper. If neither the front wiper nor the combination switch are switched on, the tailgate wiper is also not actuated.
