Location
The gear selector switch DIRECT SELECT is a part of the steering column module and it is located at the right in the area between the multifunction steering wheel (MFL) and instrument cluster (A1).
Task
Using the DIRECT SELECT gear selector switch the driver can select the desired gear selector switch position. The signal from the DIRECT SELECT gear selector switch is read in by the steering column module via the steering LIN and placed on the chassis CAN.
The gear selector switch for DIRECT SELECT is returned spring-centered to the "0" position once the shift has been made.
