Joint hub on rear axle shaft - Pressing off, pressing on and staking - AR35.30-P-0661-02P

REFER TO SHOP-MADE TOOLS Staking tool for securing joint hub on rear halfshaft WF58.50-P-3530-07P
REFER TO SHOP-MADE TOOLS Half shells (2 pieces) for pressing off or for caulking the inner constant velocity joint WF58.50-P-3530-01A

Press off joint hub 

  1. Press joint hub (37d) off rear axle shaft using SPECIAL TOOL drift.
  2. Check joint hub (37d) and rear axle shaft (37a) for damage on spline edges.

    IMPORTANT If on the splined profile of the joint hub (arrow) not more than 3 teeth per caulking, up to a maximum length of 6 mm, have broken out, the joint hub (37d) can continue to be used.

    Press on joint hub 

  3. Clamp rear axle shaft into vise.

    IMPORTANT Use protective jaws.

  4. Using a suitable tool press on joint hub (37d) until dimension (b) is reached.

    IMPORTANT Dimension (b) = 4.2 mm

    Caulk joint hub 

  5. Clamp rear axle shaft in the vise so the joint hub (37d) lies on the jaws.

    IMPORTANT It must still be possible to turn the ball retainer.

  6. Apply the new caulkings to be applied (arrows) with caulker centrally between the existing caulkings.

    IMPORTANT In order to prevent damage (e.g. breaking away) of the ball raceways, the caulkings (arrow) must be made as close as possible to the splined profile.
