	Remove/install
1.1	Temporarily store basic data from the COMAND controller unit (A40/3) in STAR DIAGNOSIS	When replacing the COMAND controller unit (A40/3). Installation : Transfer temporarily stored basic data to the new COMAND controller unit (A40/3).
	Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory		AD00.00-P-2000-04A
	Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory	STAR DIAGNOSIS diagnostic system	*WE58.40-Z-1013-06A
2	Switch off ignition and withdraw transmitter key or Keyless Go start/stop button from the EIS [EZS] control unit	Keyless Go start/stop button only for vehicles with code (889) Keyless Go.
3	Remove cover for upper control panel control unit.		AR68.20-P-2314SC
4	Loosen bolts (1)	Screws (1) remain in the COMAND controller unit (A40/3).
5	Remove COMAND control unit (A40/3) from instrument panel and disconnect electrical connector at rear of COMAND control unit (A40/3).	Installation : Carefully slide COMAND control unit (A40/3) into instrument panel to prevent damaging electric leads and fiber optic cables.

6	Install in the reverse order
